Conclusion

OIH remains controversial. While there is paucity of research, OIH is increasingly recognised as a clinical problem in the perioperative period. Through the education of our colleagues, patients, patient families, and surgeons, OIH can be more adequately considered in our differential diagnosis in a patient with poorly controlled perioperative pain.
